These guys were in cages because if they weren't, the other monkeys would eat them. Who knew? All the monkeys in Monkeyland were rescues from people who had kept them as pets.

S-loved monkeyland! So happy you suggeted to go there. I met these Tamarind monkeys, too-except, as I got closer and closer, they, well, ahem, got harder and harder. The guide told me to back away, otherwise I'd be "squirted on".
It really drives me mad when people don't obey the regulations of not having wild animals at home like pets. How many times should that be said so people understand.
